Iowa PBS strives to foster a platform for meaningful dialogue, showcase local stories with global perspectives and to be a catalyst for positive change in our state.
As an agency of the State of Iowa, Iowa PBS follows the State of Iowa Diversity, Affirmative Action, and Equal Employment Opportunity policy. It is the policy of the executive branch of state government in the State of Iowa to “provide equal employment opportunity within state government to all persons” (Iowa Code chapter 19B). The intent of this policy is to ensure that individuals are not denied equal access to state employment opportunities because of their race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy or pregnancy- related condition, consistent with applicable state and federal policies and regulations. It is also the policy of the executive branch of state government in the State of Iowa to apply affirmative action measures to correct the underutilization of females, minorities, and persons with disabilities in the state employment system whenever remedial measures are appropriate.
All Iowa PBS employees are required to review the State of Iowa Handbook and acknowledge that review by signing an acknowledgement that the State of Iowa Diversity, Affirmative Action, and Equal Employment Opportunity policy was fully read and understood by the employee. In addition, all new Iowa PBS managers are required to take the State of Iowa diversity class within their first year of employment. Iowa PBS also provides high school mentorships and internships for degree seeking students to provide exposure to all aspects of Iowa PBS operations. Iowa PBS advertises all open positions, continually striving to identify recruitment sources to generate a large applicant pool.
