Charity Nebbe to host Iowa PBS’s Iowa Life

Season 2 of Iowa PBS’s locally produced series Iowa Life will boast a new host — with a very familiar face. The statewide public television network announced today that Charity Nebbe will join the production which explores the extraordinary lives of individuals who call Iowa home. Season 2 of Iowa Life is scheduled to premiere in October.

Charity Nebbe is well known to many Iowans as the host of Talk of Iowa on Iowa Public Radio. She also hosted all ten seasons of Iowa Ingredient on Iowa PBS. While no longer in production, fans continue to enjoy Iowa Ingredient in reruns, exploring the farms, restaurants and ingredients that make Iowa food uniquely Iowan. Charity is also the author of “Our Walk in the Woods,” a children's book published in 2008.

“We live in a state that is easy to stereotype and easy to ignore, but in reality Iowa is rich in diversity of experience, thoughts, ideas and challenges,” said Charity about her latest assignment. “There are so many Iowa stories just waiting to be told and I’m very excited to be part of telling them on Iowa Life. Getting to work, once again, with the talented and dedicated producers and videographers at Iowa PBS is an absolute joy!”

Iowa Life’s first season was produced without a host, including only limited narration where necessary to best tell a story. Producer Theresa Knight’s vision for season 2 demands a more personal approach, which she hopes will better engage viewers with the program’s compelling interviews, scenic visuals and authentic storytelling.

“Charity has a passion for telling the stories of our state, a natural and genuine curiosity about the people she meets, and she understands that everyone has a unique story to tell,” said Iowa PBS Senior Producer and Director Theresa Knight. “As Iowa Life continues to explore our state, I can think of no better guide.”

Season 2 of Iowa Life will continue to shine a spotlight on the cultural gems and inspiring stories that make Iowa… Iowa. Join Charity for this exciting season as she explores Iowa stories that showcase the extraordinary within the ordinary. Iowa Life airs Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., Thursdays at 11:30 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on statewide Iowa PBS. Episodes are available to stream on demand at iowapbs.org and on the PBS App.
