Iowa PBS to host Carl the Collector premiere screenings
Be among the first to watch the new PBS KIDS program, Carl the Collector, at a special family event. On November 2 at the Maytag Auditorium, Iowa PBS will host premiere screenings of this new animated series at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with fun for the whole family.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on November 2, join Iowa PBS for a special sensory-friendly screening. This relaxed environment is designed for children who may benefit from a more low-key atmosphere. The volume will be softer, the lights dimmed and audience movement is welcome. This screening will offer all the fun of the show with a few thoughtful adjustments, including a more limited capacity.
A second screening of Carl the Collector will begin at 10:30 a.m. This screening will be at full capacity. It's the perfect opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the debut of this funny and engaging new series.
At both showtimes, families will grab a snack and drink before heading into the theater to watch two advance episodes on the big screen. After the screening, children will have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities from the Iowa PBS Education team or pick up a grab-and-go activity kit.
Carl the Collector follows the everyday adventures of Carl, a warmhearted autistic raccoon who loves collecting things. His talents — a laser-focus pursuit of his goals, attention to detail, and a distinctive way of looking at and experiencing the world around him — have helped him amass a collection for just about every occasion. Carl’s friends include both neurotypical and neurodiverse characters, each with different traits, behaviors, learning preferences, and challenges. The series brings together a diverse production team of neurodiverse and neurotypical writers, advisors and voice talent.
