Iowa PBS's broadcast serving Waterloo area to be temporarily interrupted
Iowa PBS's transmitter KRIN Channel 32 serving the Waterloo viewing area will be out of service on Friday, December 6 between 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Iowa PBS’s signal from KRIN is being moved to a new antenna. Technicians are working to limit the length of the necessary outage as much as possible. KRIN will continue to operate at reduced power following this outage until the move to the new antenna is complete. Once the broadcast signal is established on the new antenna, viewers will receive a higher quality and more reliable transmission of Iowa PBS programming.
The antenna replacement project has taken longer than originally scheduled due to inclement weather and wind conditions limiting the crew’s ability to work on the tower. Some viewers in the broadcast area are currently unable to receive the Iowa PBS signal or have been receiving a lower quality signal during this transition. The project is expected to be completed in another three weeks, weather permitting.
During the outage, PBS KIDS programming, usually found on Iowa PBS's primary channel and Iowa PBS KIDS .2, is available to livestream, with many shows on-demand at iowapbs.org/kids-tv, on YouTube TV and through the PBS KIDS Video app on mobile devices and streaming services, including iOS, Android, Amazon, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast and the PBS KIDS Plug & Play.
In addition to its statewide broadcast, Iowa PBS .1 is available to livestream on iowapbs.org/watch, pbs.org/livestream, the PBS app, Local Now, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV. Iowa PBS programs, behind-the-scenes extras and more can be enjoyed on iowapbs.org, Facebook and YouTube. Viewers can also stream their favorite shows on demand using the PBS app, available on iOS, Android and many streaming devices.
