Iowa PBS to host Iowa Press Debates: U.S. Senate; 1st, 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts
Live coverage of debates to be broadcast statewide and livestreamed
Iowa PBS will hold Iowa Press debates for the U.S. Senate, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Congressional District Races in September and October at Iowa PBS studios in Johnston. The hour-long debates will air live on statewide Iowa PBS and be streamed on iowapbs.org, YouTube and Facebook.
Candidates in each debate will answer questions and discuss their platforms, concerns and future plans. The debate schedule is as follows:
● The Iowa Press Debates: 1st Congressional District between U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer (D - Dubuque) and Iowa Rep. Ashley Hinson (R - Marion) will be held Monday, September 7 at 8 p.m.
● The Iowa Press Debates: 2nd Congressional District between Rita Hart (D - Wheatland) and Iowa Senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R - Ottumwa) will be held Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m.
● The Iowa Press Debates: U.S. Senate between U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst (R - Red Oak) and Theresa Greenfield (D - Des Moines) will be held Monday, September 28 at 7 p.m.
● The Iowa Press Debates: 3rd Congressional District between U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne (D - West Des Moines) and David Young (R - Van Meter) will be held Monday, October 5 at 8 p.m.
Spanish translations will be available for the Iowa Press Debates via SAP. Episodes with Spanish audio and subtitles will be available on demand on iowapbs.org and YouTube.
Due to current social distancing guidelines, there will be no studio audiences during the debates.
