Iowa PBS presents ninth season of Iowa Ingredient
Iowa PBS is cooking up a ninth season of Iowa Ingredient, with 8 tasty new episodes to be served up this spring. Season 9 premieres Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. on statewide Iowa PBS, iowapbs.org and the PBS Video App.
“Every year we find the most incredible people and foods to showcase on Iowa Ingredient,” said host Charity Nebbe. “And every year I realize how inventive and impassioned Iowans are about the food culture here in our state. Telling their personal stories through food makes our connection to viewers that much more enticing.”
Throughout season 9, Iowa Ingredient viewers will be treated to a journey across the state with Nebbe, meeting farmers, growers and producers of oats, basil, trout, leeks, flour, asparagus, pears and okra. As always, resourceful Iowa chefs will be invited into the studio kitchen, joining Nebbe to create viewer-friendly recipes that can be tried at home using fresh, local ingredients.
This season will feature some of Iowa Ingredient’s favorite chefs, and some new faces too. Chef Katy Meyer of Trumpet Blossom Café in Iowa City, Chef Matt Steigerwald of Rapid Creek Cidery in Iowa City, Chef Suman Hoq of HoQ Restaurant in Des Moines, Executive Chef and Professor Dean Luttrell of DMACC in Ankeny, Chef Joshua Frederick of Cafe Mir in Fertile, General Manager and Executive Chef James Calkins of Milk and Honey in Harlan and Executive Chef Lynn Pritchard of Table 128 in Clive will all inspire viewers to appreciate the amazing food culture in Iowa.
“We’ve received so much positive feedback from communities around the state,” said Executive Producer Deb Herbold. “People love to see their local farmer, chef or food-culture story profiled on Iowa PBS. Sure, food is the thread throughout each episode, but our mission is really to tell stories about Iowans, communities and Iowa culture. It’s just a bonus that Charity also gets to taste delicious dishes along the way!”
Throughout April and May, new episodes will premiere each week on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. on statewide Iowa PBS. Iowa Ingredient also airs on Iowa PBS Create .4 and is available on iowapbs.org/iowaingredient and the PBS Video App.
