Travel with PBS KIDS: Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum
This summer we’re taking a look at where we think PBS KIDS characters would enjoy traveling in our great state. Explore Iowa with Arthur, Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, Wild Kratts and Nature Cat. They will be traveling around Iowa featuring different locations and places you and your family can enjoy.
If Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum took a road trip across Iowa, where would they go? We think Xavier and his friends would enjoy checking out the John Wayne Birthplace Museum, the State Historical Museum of Iowa and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. These museums are great for families and young adventurers wanting to learn more about Iowa’s history and some incredible historical figures.
This animated series follows Xavier Riddle, his sister Yadina and their friend Brad as they meet heroes from the past– from Eleanor Roosevelt to Leonardo da Vinci. Check out Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum today and take an adventure on air or on demand via the PBS KIDS App!
John Wayne Birthplace Museum
Step into the world of the Wild West and discover the legendary actor who became America's favorite cowboy. Explore real cowboy hats, movie posters, and even try on costumes John Wayne wore in his famous films. Stand tall next to a life-size statue of John Wayne himself. With interactive displays and pretend horse rides, you'll feel like you're a part of the Old West!
State Historical Museum of Iowa
This amazing museum is like a time machine that takes you on a journey through Iowa's past. You can explore fascinating artifacts from Native American tribes who first lived here and learn about pioneer life when settlers first arrived. There are fossils from ancient creatures that used to roam Iowa and fun programs like the Goldie's Kids Club. With fun activities like learning about Iowa and exploring interactive exhibits, it's a super fun way to discover the history of Iowa right in the heart of Des Moines!
Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
This center is dedicated to two adventurous friends, Lewis and Clark, who explored the wild lands of America a long time ago. Inside, you can see real things they used like maps, tools and even some of the plants and animals they discovered on their journey. The center offers interactive tours, history and wildlife lessons, along with a chance to see the one-of-a-kind replica boat Lewis and Clark used on their expedition!
