Hope for the Future

Iowa women share their hopes for the future regarding women’s equality.

I wanna see a lady be president, like I want to see that … I would like to see a woman be president. Before I die I want to see that happen. That would definitely be something that would be amazing to see… to be alive during the first woman president.

What is your hope for the future?

That we’ll all be equal.

My hope for the future is that girls can grow up in a world where they know they can do anything, where there’s no institutions or people putting them down and who are just uplifting them and encouraging them to do whatever it is they want to do.

I hope that everyone can regard every other person as equal to them and maybe brothers and sisters.

I just want to be able to be a person instead of just a woman or just a Latina. I want to be able to set foot somewhere and not be based off my gender but be based off of who I am.

I hope that someday eventually everybody will be treated equal. And I think it will happen, it’s just a long process.

I just hope we keep on the same pathway of trying to make things as equal as they can be.

My hope for the future is that we keep pushing for our rights and that we can get some more women politicians out there and really helping everyone, I think just creating a strong support system for women in politics will really help and get the word out there.

I just hope that everyone’s accepted, not just women and men but other genders and everyone, no matter who they are, is just accepted in society and nobody hates each other for being different in any way.

I hope it really comes to a day where every day we wake up, we don't have to think about equality, that it becomes just natural to us. As we talk about in the League and I’ll put it this way. If you look at any organization in the country now, you hear people talk about diversity, equity and inclusion over and over again. And the way I see it is we need to get to a point where that's just part of our DNA. And we don't even have to think about it in that way. It's just part of what we do and what we are. Because in reality, that's what our country is. We are the one of the most diverse countries around. Think about it. And so we need to embrace that and make it part of who we are.
