Tomatillos
Iowa Ingredient | Episode
May 6, 2016 | 28 min
It’s easy to glance around a grocery store’s produce section or across a farmer’s market table and admire the beauty and bounty. But have your eyes ever gotten stuck on that odd-looking, round, green thing that kinda resembles a combination of an onion and a small tomato? That probably is a tomatillo. Though it’s a Mexican native, this fruit can grow well in Iowa. On this episode of Iowa Ingredient join host Charity Nebbe to learn more about the fascinating tomatillo when we visit Muddy Miss Farms in Ainsworth. Then Chef Jim Vido from Ladora Bank Bistro will stop by the studio kitchen and share some of his recipes using tomatillos.
