Baruthio's Holiday Mulled Wine
Chef David Baruthio's holiday wine.
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine (chianti or merlot)
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
whole cloves
bay leaf
2 star anise
2 orange blossom tea bags
1 orange
Directions
In sauce pan, combine red wine, water, sugar, cinnamonsticks, 2 or 3 whole cloves, one bay leaf, 2 star anise, and 2 tea bags. Quarter the orange and add two of the quarters to the pot. Cover and simmer til warm.
Garnish cup with another cinnamon stick and a small slice of orange.
