Chocolate Caliente Drink
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups evaporated milk
3/4 cup half and half
1/2 vanilla bean
1/4 cup white sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon good chili powder
1 dry Serrano chili
3 oz bittersweet chocolate
1/2 C heavy whipping cream, mixed with 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon)
(*if choose to add alcohol, add 1/2 c Tia Maria or Kahlua)
Directions
Place evaporated milk, half and half, vanilla bean, sugar, chili powder, and cocoa powder in saucepan. Warm gently over medium heat. Add cinnamon stick and Serrano chili. Stir in chocolate until melted. Let stand uncovered 20 minutes. Whip cream and ground cinnamon together till firm. Strain chocolate mixture.
Serve in warmed coffee mugs with dollop of cinnamon cream.
**Chef suggests homemade marshmallows and small cinnamon cakes to serve with it.
