Join us on September 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Iowa PBS for a special preview and discussion of Des Moines Metro Opera Presents American Apollo. This world premiere opera is a story of race, celebrity, class and power in America.

Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the auditorium doors opening at 7. Principal artists Justin Austin and William Burden will join the conversation with Des Moines Metro Opera's Michael Egel. Travis Graven of Iowa PBS will host the discussion.

This special event will be recorded and shared on Facebook and iowapbs.org on September 25.

About the program:
This world premiere opera features baritone Justin Austin as Thomas Eugene McKeller, tenor William Burden making a company debut as John Singer Sargent, soprano Mary Dunleavy as Isabella Stewart Gardner and DMMO Music Director and Principal Conductor David Neely leading the production alongside stage director Shaun Patrick Tubbs, who is also making his company debut. This special Iowa PBS presentation of Des Moines Metro Opera Presents American Apollo includes behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with members of the cast and creative team. American Apollo is sung in English with English subtitles. Des Moines Metro Opera Presents American Apollo airs on Iowa PBS September 27 at 8:30 p.m.
